Oribe ware is a traditional style of Japanese ceramics that took shape under the influence of the renowned tea master Furuta Oribe.

Bold, playful and unconventional, it reflects his adventurous spirit and his constant desire to try something new. Oribe is known for its distinctive deep green glaze, its abstract and expressive designs, and its intentionally irregular, asymmetrical forms.

Breaking away from conventional ideas of beauty, Oribe ware has a wonderfully avant-garde character. 

This is a vintage chawan and it may have been used before.
