Darj

Produced in the Darjeeling style, this tea undergoes deep withering before rolling. The extended wither concentrates aromatics and develops a natural honeyed sweetness with light spice undertones.

In the cup, the profile is distinctly honey-floral, fresh yet gently spiced in character. Brightness and lift meet soft warmth, creating a layered and elegant expression. It carries the structure of a lightly oxidized black tea while preserving a green-like clarity.

To obtain 500 kg of this grade, approximately 2 tons of finished tea are processed. Around 1.5 tons are sorted into smaller grades, leaving only the most refined leaf for this selection.

Technically, it would be incorrect to call this tea Darjeeling, as it is produced in Ilam, Nepal, approximately 70 km from Darjeeling. For this reason, we simply refer to it as Darj.

It is worth noting that some Indian producers purchase Nepali tea material to blend into Darjeeling teas, reflecting the close stylistic and geographic connection between the regions.
