Hachiman-Yaki Chawan

Hachiman ware is a traditional pottery from Yasugi, in Shimane Prefecture, made since 1723 and recognised as a traditional craft of the prefecture.

The kiln is best known for its indigo gosu glaze, but it also works in iron glaze, where the firing draws warm amber and brown tones out of the surface and no two results come out quite the same. Its rustic textures, earthy tones and simple forms celebrate the natural beauty of clay, glaze and fire.

Quiet, warm and imperfect, Hachiman ware reflects the Japanese appreciation for simplicity and for the beauty of handmade objects.

This is a vintage chawan and it may have been used before.

What Sets Us Apart

is the taste for organic, natural processed tea.

We believe that tea itself is enough.
